5 Things to Include in Your Media Kit

When you are starting a business, one of the most important things you can do is create a media kit. This document will help introduce your company to the world and explain what you do. You'll want it to be polished and professional, and it should include all of the important information about your business. After putting together our own personal media kits and helping our clients at The Marketing Greenhouse compile theirs, here are five things that we think you should put in your media kit!

Contact Information

Your contact information is the most important thing in your media kit. It is how people can find and identify you.

This information should include your name, email address, phone number, and website. Each time you send your media kit off, make sure that your website is up to date with your latest work, easy to navigate, and aesthetically pleasing so that it draws the viewer in.

Brief Biography

Your media kit should include a brief biography about yourself. This is your opportunity to talk about who you are and what you do. You can also include any accomplishments, awards, and/or accolades that separate you from the pack.

You should also provide your experience level. How many years of experience do you have? What have you done over the course of that time? People want to know if they're working with someone who has what it takes, so don't be shy when talking up your expertise in this section of the media kit! If you've worked on projects that align with what they might need help with, then definitely mention those as well -- but only if they were successful endeavors because you always want to put your best foot forward.

Testimonials and Recommendations

Recommendations from previous clients, friends, or colleagues are a great way to boost your credibility. If you have any recommendations on LinkedIn, put those in your media kit too! It is also important to include testimonials and quotes from people who can vouch for the quality of your work. These can be used as a way to show potential clients that you are reliable and trustworthy.

Social Media Links

With social media being so prevalent in today's society, it is important to include links to your accounts on any platform where they may find you. Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest are just some examples of popular platforms that can allow potential clients or collaborators an easy way to connect with you online. When including these, add in relevant stats, such as engagement rate, reach, and impressions, plus anything else that is impressive. This also means ensuring that each respective platform is cleaned up and looks professional. Lastly, make sure your links point directly back at their respective pages for each network rather than linking offsite.

Writing Samples or Published Work

Including writing samples or published work is a great way to show off your skills and what you're capable of. If you have any articles, case studies, or blog posts that have been featured on other sites, make sure to include those in your media kit. This will help the reader get an idea of the caliber of your work and how it stacks up against others in your industry. We include our past client work with The Marketing Greenhouse in our media kit so that potential new clients can get a better visual of what we can offer them.

Remember, when putting together your media kit, always aim to be professional and polished.

Make sure all of your contact information is correct and easy to find, as well as up-to-date with your latest achievements. And most importantly, let your personality shine through! After all, people do business with people they like -- so make sure they like you too.
